Cutting Board Care Instructions
Cutting boards are essential kitchen tools, and proper care and maintenance can help ensure their longevity. Here are some care and maintenance instructions for a cutting board:
Clean the cutting board after every use with hot, soapy water. Make sure to scrub it thoroughly and rinse it well.
Sanitize the cutting board regularly with a mixture of 1 tablespoon of bleach to 1 gallon of water. Let the solution sit on the board for a few minutes before rinsing it off.
Avoid using abrasive sponges or scouring pads, as they can damage the surface of the cutting board.
Dry the cutting board immediately after washing it to prevent moisture from seeping into the wood.
Oil the cutting board regularly with food-grade mineral oil. Apply a thin layer of oil and let it soak in for several hours before wiping off any excess.
(*NOTE* This should be done once or twice a year depending on usage)Avoid exposing the cutting board to extreme temperatures or humidity, as this can cause the wood to warp or crack.
